Electronic Superhighway: Continental U.S., Alaska, Hawaii 1995

Electronic Superhighway: Continental U.S., Alaska, Hawaii 1995 by Nam-June Baik
It made by Nam-June Baik who is very famous video artist in Korea and the United Stated. It was one his video artwork. He described continental U.S, Alaska and Hawaii by forty seven channel and closed circuit video installation with three hundred thirty three monitors, neon and steel structure. This artwork included many art elements such as line, shape, color, space, form, value and texture. I think all of things are very significant. In my opinion, especially, color expresses the most significant in the artwork. It is displaying about U. S. continent, using television like pile up block. Neon provides the states boundary lines.. As you know, balance is the visual equilibrium of an artwork or the visual weight of the artwork. It is very balanced. It looks like very harmonize between colors, lights and neon sign. Fist of all, I learned about how to make amazing artwork using televisions.
When Nam June Paik came to the United States in 1964, the interstate highway system was only nine years old, and superhighways offered everyone the freedom to "see the U.S.A. in your car." Neon outlines the monitors, meaning the multicolored maps and glowing enticements of motels and restaurants that beckoned Americans to the open road. The different colors remind us that individual states still have distinct identities and cultures. Paik was the first to use the phrase "electronic superhighway," and this installation proposes that electronic media provide us with what we used to leave home to discover. However, Electronic Superhighway is real. When I saw this artwork from internet, I realize how huge this country is and there consist of variety cultures, religions and people. Each of state had special cultures and qualities. If I give a name of title, it was “country of the world”
Honestly, I am very proud of this artwork because it made by Korean. Actually, I liked colorful design of artwork. When I was middle school student, I remember drawing a artwork similar to his work but only difference was that I used the map of Korea. I think I never mark the price on this artwork because it has had infinity value.

East gate, Seoul, Sunrise

East Gate, Seoul, Sunrise ,Elizabeth Keith ,1920
This paiting is by Elizabeth Keith. She was born in scotland in1887. She was a self-taught artist making watercolors and drawings. Actually, Elizabeth was kept by the charm of the Asian culture and arts.
This painting is titled "East Gate, Seoul, Sunrise". This painting is very tranquil and the Seoul represents calm and peaceful town. In the painting the Seoul seems very silent . In addition, The sunrise create strong vermilion shadows on the foreground and the snow make me feel peaceful.
